Sr. Design Engineer

Summary of Job Duties:

Sr. RFIC Design Engineer responsible for designing state-of-the-art RF amplifier, attenuator, switch, mixer, and/or mixed-signal integrated circuits as a member of product development teams at WJ Communications.

WJ Communications, Inc. is a leading provider of radio frequency (RF) solutions serving multiple markets targeting wireless communications, RF identification (RFID), WiMAX, and broadband cable. WJ addresses the RF challenges in these multiple markets with its highly reliable amplifiers, mixers, RF integrated circuits (RFICs), RFID reader modules, chipsets, and multi-chip (MCM) modules.

Specific Job Duties:

Responsible for detailed, transistor-level, circuit design of small-signal RF amplifiers, attenuators, switches, and/or multi-function RFICs targeted toward wireless infrastructure applications. Work with Engineering and Marketing managers to define product requirements and create and execute product development plans including design, simulation, layout, and verification testing. Technologies that may be employed for design include: GaAs/InGaP HBT, pHEMT, SiGe BiCMOS, and/or RF CMOS. Must be a team-player, able to work in a cross-functional team with Product, Application, Test, Packaging, Reliability, and Marketing Engineers. In-direct supervision/mentoring of technical staff and less-experienced engineers is expected.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

BSEE or equivalent and 5 years min. experience in RFIC design. (MSEE/PhD and/or 10 yrs experience preferred.)

Skills and/or Training Desired:

Proficiency with RFIC CAD tools such as Agilent’s ADS, Cadence’s Spectre and Virtuouso. Experience with electromagnetic simulation of 2D and 3D structures is a plus. Knowledge of RF test equipment and RFIC test methods is required.
